Supporting museums and non-profit institutions in the Pacific Northwest
Fireboat Duwamish engine room
Ilios Remote Sensing and the non-profit Hellenic Archaeological Exploration Society are working together to digitize historical objects for non-profits and museums. Above if a “fly through” for the engine room of the Fireboat Duwamish, the second oldest fireboat in the United States. We have an ongoing project with this institution to laser scan the entire ship for the purpose of preserving this vessel for future generations.
Another service we provide to non-profits are virtual tours. Below is a virtual tour of the United State Coast Guard Museum Northwest. Please note the blue circles throught the tour which are tags. By tapping on these circles on a phone or by hovering the mouse over these circles result in a popup window appearing with additional information. This is a valuable educational tool for enhancing both physical and virtual exhibits.
We are also grateful for working with the Northwest Seaport Maritime Heritage Center in assisting in outreach for the historical ships they are preserving for future generations. We have completed virtual tours of two ships of the historic fleet, the historic Arthur Foss tugboat and the F/V (fishing vessel) Tordenskjold.
We wish to express our gratitute for being granted access and permission to create 3D photogammetry models of historical artifacts as the United States Coast Guard Museum Northwest located at 1519 Alaskan Way South, Seattle, WA 98134, open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The museum may be reached at (206) 217-6993.
Our next virtual tour is of the Manchester Torpedo Warehouse, located in Manchester State Park near Port Orchard, Washington. This is also a case study for architects, contractors, and design teams to evaluate our commercial offerings.
Our first photogammetry model is of a Manby Mortar, a rescue device invented in the early 19th century. More can be learned from the 1967 film Manby hosted by the East Anglia Film Archive.
The other two models are from the Fireboat Duwamish, a headlight and the second is for a filter that can filter a variety of liquids from water to oil.
